UAE allocates US$10 million in urgent aid for Venezuela earthquake victims
At least 920 killed and more than 50,000 missing after powerful tremors
ABU DHABI/CARACAS – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a US$10 million emergency relief package to support communities affected by two powerful earthquakes that struck off Venezuela’s northern coast near Moron.
The aid was allocated under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and will be delivered through the UAE Aid Agency. The initiative aims to provide immediate humanitarian support, including essential supplies, medical assistance and relief materials for those impacted by the disaster.
The UAE Aid Agency said the response reflects the country’s continued humanitarian efforts to assist communities affected by natural disasters and crises worldwide. The relief programme is designed to support early recovery efforts, strengthen stability and address urgent needs among affected populations.
Relief efforts
Dr Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, highlighted the UAE’s role in responding to global emergencies and providing assistance during times of crisis. He said the country’s humanitarian approach is rooted in the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and continues under the vision and support of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Al Ameri said the affected communities in Venezuela are facing challenging humanitarian conditions, making the rapid delivery of assistance essential. The UAE Aid Agency is coordinating with Venezuelan authorities and international organisations to ensure relief supplies reach those in need as quickly as possible.
The support package includes food supplies, medical items, shelter equipment and other essential materials aimed at helping families affected by the earthquakes and easing the impact of the disaster.
Venezuela earthquakes
The earthquakes have caused widespread destruction across affected areas, with Venezuelan authorities declaring a nationwide state of emergency. The United Nations said rescue teams from at least 17 countries are involved in search and recovery operations as efforts continue to locate survivors.
The death toll from the two earthquakes has risen to 920, while the UN estimates that more than 50,000 people remain missing. Emergency teams are continuing searches amid damaged infrastructure, evacuated buildings and ongoing aftershocks.

The twin earthquakes are among the strongest seismic events recorded in Venezuela in more than a century, affecting Caracas and surrounding regions. Several buildings have been evacuated as authorities assess damage and respond to the humanitarian situation.
Aftershocks have reportedly been felt across a wide area, reaching as far as the Brazilian Amazon, adding further challenges for rescue and relief teams working in affected locations.
